Sunday 19 May 2019 – Grown-Up Storytime Reader’s Workshop (1-2:30pm)

We can’t have Grown-up STORYtime without STORIES! If you are interested in writing for GUST – please come join us for a workshop Sunday May 19th from 1:00 – 2:30pm at Rudyard’s British Pub. Free to attend.

What will we do?
Go over the specifics of what makes a GUST story versus other styles of personal narrative and get started with some writing prompts. If you have something you want to have read and be given feedback, there will be plenty of time for that as well.

What do you need to bring?
Something you like writing on or in. If you have any stories that you were thinking about submitting, you can bring those too!

Thursday 18 January 2018 – Boiling Point Players present A New Life Cabaret

Boiling Point Players are back for our annual tradition, the cabaret, and the theme of the evening is “A New Life.” Now this year’s cabaret has a little twist to it. We will still have improv, songs, and short plays but for this show, we asked three local male playwrights to write original pieces.
Why male playwrights you ask? Our mission statement is to bring authenticity, fun and females to the stage. Research shows that men get produced more than women. So if we want more parts for women on stage, we need to get men to write more women characters! With this thought in mind, we reached out to 3 playwrights to see if they would write pieces for our show with the following parameters:
Theme: A New Life, 5-15 minutes, minimal set, only female characters

That’s right.  Only female characters!  And they delivered.  These are some wildly different female centric plays that explore what “A New Life” means.

Our mission is to create accessible theatrical experiences that represent the diverse population of our city. We are a socially conscious company that aims to promote equality on stage and behind the scenes. What people are saying about Rogue Productions:

“In its inaugural production, newly formed Rogue Productions has taken this frothy but utterly amusing script and shown us that superb acting, set design and direction can elevate something fun into something artistically substantial as well.” Jessica Goldman, Houston Press

“College friends and co-founders Rachel Logue and Chelsea Ryan McCurdy of Rogue Productions performed a magnificent two-person show to kick off their theater company’s inaugural performance.” – Rafa Farihah, Houstonia Magazine

Thursday 19 January 2017 – Boiling Point Players presents A New Day Cabaret (doors 7:45pm)

The New Year’s
A New Day Cabaret

Nothing says fresh like January and some original theater. Therefore, we’re proud to announce our first event of 2017,

newday

So here’s how the prepping worked. Three local photographers snapped pictures of actors. Then three playwrights wrote plays inspired by the photos. So if a picture is worth a thousand words…

The night will also feature live singing by Katy Burns and Ellen Dyer, a dance performance by Cindy Lou Parker and improv from Magical Lying Hour and Ophelia’s Rope. All this adds up to one big night of performances featuring Houston MC, Amy Pope.
