Friday 01 March 2019 – The Bellrays, The Atom Age, Modfag

The Bellrays (Riverside, CA)
https://www.thebellrays.com/

If music is food for the soul, then The BellRays are Thanksgiving and they know how to cook. The BellRays strip down to the meat of what music means to them. Growing up in SoCal, they thrived on radio channels that broadcast more than one kind of music. It was a party. ‘Punk Funk Rock Soul’ is their party with their songs and friends.

“We take our ear where our heart lives in simple song-writing, making ourselves and hopefully all who hear it feel good,” explains singer Lisa Kekaula. “We are proud of its simplicity and love how the new songs sound like old friends. This release is a collection of songs that illustrates why we do what we do. We are not 20 year-olds and that’s okay. We are proud of our mileage and journey and PUNK FUNK ROCK SOUL validates our comfort in what music means to us. Viability, trend and meaning are up to the eye of the beholder. For the record…we like to rock.”

The Atom Age (Oakland, CA)
https://www.facebook.com/pg/theatomage

The Atom Age find their inspiration from the dust covered collections of unhinged 60’s punk and R&B, whose crazed energy was once misconceived as a better fit for your trashcan than for your turntable. While taking many of their cues from these primitive pilgrims of punk, The Atom Age still strive to lay down their own modernized take on the sound. The band’s new record, Hot Shame, was co-produced by Blag Dahlia of the Dwarves, and channels a wide range of influences from bands like The Sonics, Link Wray and the Murder City Devils.

Modfag (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/Modfag/

MODFAG a name that will go down in infamy or bring much amusement at dive bars. This is reverb party music that is perfect for those that like to cavestomp. A perfect mix of classic 60’s garage with some 70’s glam to taper off the kick. Featuring members of Born Liars, The Freakouts, The Wrong Ones & Gun Crazy.

“You’ve heard our name, you’ve seen our records, our t-shirts and our stickers. We’re probably the favorite band of someone you know and yet maybe we’re still a mystery to you. Well my friend, that’s okay, you’re at the right place to get to know the greatest rock-n-roll band in the world, The Supersuckers.

And the next time you see the ‘Supersuckers’ name, whether it’s in the record store, online somewhere, or on the marquee at your local rock club, know that there’s some quality, honest, ass-kicking, hard working individuals behind it all trying to make your life a little better through the “Evil Powers Of Rock-n-Roll” (and the occasional detour into the country music, of course) and we’d love nothing better than to have you there with us as! Just remember to wear clean underwear, ‘cuz we’re gonna rock the pants right off of you!” – Eddie Spaghetti, The Supersuckers

ESE (Houston, TX)
https://www.facebook.com/ESEtexas/

Ese is a unique mash up of Punk, Rock n Roll, and just a touch of Hardcore and Metal. Ese started in the early 2000s, spending their first years finding and refining their signature sound to their local Houston music scene. Over the years they have toured all over the USA which led to them being noticed and signed by Zodiac Killer Records. Until 2014, all original members of ESE worked hard to get the band to where they are today. After the departure of Knotch, one of the driving forces behind Ese, the band made the tough decision to continue. With the addition of Edward and Chris, the renewed energy and the incredible sound and fury of the band has floored audiences around America which landed them a spot on the Sudden Death Records roster, where ESE happily joins the ranks of amazing artist such as The Damned, MDC, The Vibrators, Real McKenzies, and DOA.
